Rhodes College Receives $800K to Establish Institute for Race and Social Transformation

A $800,000 three-year grant recently awarded to the college from the Mellon Foundation will establish the Institute for Race and Social Transformation. The institute will serve as an intellectual hub for research and curricular development focusing on racial equity, discrimination and justice in Memphis and the Mid-South region.

Georgia Southern U Launches Earth, Environment & Sustainability School

In early July, the university's College of Science and Mathematics launched a new School of Earth, Environment and Sustainability (SEES). The new school will blend several science disciplines to better serve a growing student demand for sustainability and environmental science education. Under the new school, students can pursue a Master of Science in Environmental Science while working toward their undergraduate degree.

The science hub will be a convergence of disciplines and epistemologies where Indigenous knowledge-holders from diverse coastal regions will work with university-trained social, ecosystem and physical Earth system scientists and students on transformative research to address coastal hazards in the contexts of their communities.

The Tuck School of Business at Dartmouth recently received a $52.1 million anonymous pledge to endow a recurring summit that convenes global leaders from the private and public sectors, academic researchers and students with the goal of inspiring action to improve the health, wealth and sustainability of people and the planet in the 21st century.
