'Flipping the switch' on the Sharon and Graham Mitchell Sustainability Park at Miami University
A $5 million gift from Sharon Janosik Mitchell ’73 and Graham Mitchell ’73, M.En. ’76 will help Miami reach its 2040 carbon neutrality goal. Miami University President Gregory Crawford announced the creation of the Sharon and Graham Mitchell Sustainability Park during a public celebration Sept. 24 to “Flip the Switch for Sustainability.” The park will encompass two ground mount solar panel installations in partnership with Melink Solar, which are expected to produce 2,260 megawatt hours (MWh) of electricity annually. One will located over Miami's Western Geothermal Field , harnessing the power of the sun and the earth for sustainable energy. Admins can make updates.

A coalition of students, faculty and Bloomington residents transformed the university's Peace Garden into a safe haven for bees and other native pollinators, enabling the university to become a newly designated affiliate of Bee Campus USA.
Bowie State U Install Edible Landscaping
At the end of October, students, faculty and staff planted a fruit tree orchard on campus consisting of 25 apple and pear trees donated by a non-profit charity. Food from the trees will be used by dining services, while also combating hunger and enhancing plant services curriculum.
