California State U Monterey Bay Adds EV to Police Fleet
(U.S.): The university's police commander recently received a grant from the Monterey Bay Unified Air Pollution Control District to purchase the efficient, all electric Nissan Leaf, which will be used for civilian employees of the department.
City College Opens Campus Bike Shop
Embracing alternative transportation plans that encourage cycling, the new do-it-yourself bike repair shop allows students, faculty and staff to learn how to fix their bike and purchase bicycle parts and accessories. The shop will also host education classes and bike-focused events.
Syracuse U to Start Bike Sharing Program
Because of a pilot bike-share initiative being organized by the university's Student Association, students will soon be able to use bikes for free, only paying fees if bikes are late, lost or damaged.
Utah State U Pilots Employee Bike Program
The university is going to conduct a pilot program later this year that allows employees who bike to work to be reimbursed up to $240 a year for commuting costs. It's part of federal legislation enacted in 2009 under the Renewable Energy Tax Credit that adds bicycle commuting to the list of qualified transportation fringe benefits covered in the IRS code.

U North Carolina Charlotte Receives $64K Electric Vehicle Funding
One Clean Fuel Advanced Technology Project grant for $12,000 enabled the university to purchase a vehicle battery monitoring system that checks, measures and calculates certain battery parameters to determine the health of the battery in order to save money on battery purchases. A second grant for $52,000 will fund the purchase of 20 on-campus charging stations for electric vehicles. Electric vehicle owners will be able to charge for free during the two-year grant period.
Millersville U Expands Bikeability
Spurred by the support of the president, a biking enthusiast, the university now has additional bike racks and two new bike repair stations, and has plans to install bike lockers in new resident halls.
Southern Oregon U Partners to Reduce Student Mileage
Part of a statewide "Drive Less. Save More." campaign, the university is working with the Oregon Department of Transportation and a district authority to reduce the number of miles driven by university students by providing information to students about the benefits of traveling by foot, bike, skateboard, bus and shared car. U Georgia Installs Electric Vehicle Chargers
Installed due to campus community interest, the new EV charging stations are able to fully power a vehicle in two hours and are currently free to parking deck users, although beginning in the fall, a fee will be assessed.
