New EAUC Report: Whole-Institution Approaches to Sustainability at Universities and Colleges in the U.K.

New research commissioned by the U.K.-based Environmental Association of Colleges and Universities (EAUC) shows that strategies for advancing sustainability at the institutional level vary across the sector and that there is not a one-size-fits-all model. A new report based on the research aims to provide a starting point for those seeking to introduce a holistic sustainability approach within U.K. colleges and universities. The EAUC is a U.K.-based association that offers support services to drive sustainability at universities and colleges. AASHE members can access EAUC resources for free.

AASHE's Campus Sustainability Hub houses the archives of all 2017 AASHE webinars, free for members to view. This year’s archived webinars span a variety of topics, such as campus food systems, applied learning for sustainability, clean energy and the carbon footprint, and water conservation. Hungry and Homeless in College: Results From a National Study of Basic Needs Insecurity in Higher Education

A new report by the Wisconsin HOPE Lab provides insight into food insecurity, homelessness and housing insecurity among today’s college students. The report is based on the results of a survey distributed by Wisconsin HOPE Lab and the Association of Community College Trustees to 70 community colleges in 24 states. It also provides policy recommendations for community colleges, state and federal policymakers, and researchers on ways in which each can support these students and help provide the services they need.

The Glocal Curriculum: A Practical Guide to Teaching and Learning in an Interconnected World

The book covers three different stages, from envisioning the "glocal" curriculum and its design to implementing and evaluating the "glocal" curriculum and program, to designing the "glocal" teaching-learning environment. Released by the Leonardo Academy, the report includes survey data regarding the level of LEED participation compared to other available programs, driving factors for pursuing LEED and its specific applications, such as LEED for New Construction, and level of importance to key stakeholders.

Tips to Improve AASHE STARS Report Quality

Since STARS 2.1 was launched in spring 2015, each submission now undergoes a collaborative review and revision process, where AASHE staff work with STARS liaisons to address any identified issues prior to report publication. This helps to identify common issues in reporting and increases report quality. To help reduce the revision burden on liaisons and expedite the report review process, AASHE staff have put together this list of tips that institutions can follow before submitting a STARS report.

Colorado State University: A Midscale Market Solar Customer Case Study

The National Renewable Energy Laboratory (NREL) case study provides details about Colorado State University's solar energy deployment, which began in 2009 with the installation of an 18.9-kilowatt rooftop installation at its Fort Collins campus.
