Call for Submissions: 'Sustainability' Journal

Submissions are encouraged for a special issue in the journal Sustainability called “The Role of Universities in Regional Transitions towards Sustainability”. The special issue aims to bring together researchers from multiple disciplines to contribute to the theoretical and practical understanding of the role of universities in regional transitions towards sustainability. The manuscript deadline is Dec. 31.

AASHE Sustainability Awards: Call for Submissions

Each year, AASHE bestows 11 awards across four categories to institutions and individuals who demonstrate a commitment to higher education sustainability. The award categories recognize sustainability achievements by institutions and individuals as well as high impact research on campus sustainability. Submissions and nominations are due on May 15. The deadline for submissions and nominations will not be extended.

2020 AASHE Workshop: Earth as Relative: An Indigenous Lens for Sustainability in Higher Education

2020 AASHE Workshop: Sustainability Across the Curriculum Leadership

Become familiar with the philosophy of change in higher education developed through the Ponderosa Project at Northern Arizona University and adapted at Emory in Piedmont Project. The International Green Gown Awards recognize exceptional sustainability initiatives being undertaken by universities and colleges. Supported by U.N. Environment, the program is open to any university or college, except where there is an existing Green Gown Awards program. The deadline to apply is March 31.

The University Award for Innovative Civic Engagement is a pilot grant program to discover novel research and learning strategies for university civic engagement among Talloires Network member universities. It provides direct support for the local expansion of civic engagement partnerships to build more equal and inclusive societies. This survey, conducted every two to three years by AASHE, seeks to understand the career field of sustainability professionals in higher education. Beyond Waste Student Summits

The Beyond Waste Student Summits bring together students to understand the systemic impact of waste, from extraction to disposal. These full-day, regional leadership intensives welcome students from all levels of experience and interest. Sierra/Princeton Review Data Sharing Procedures

AASHE is collaborating with Sierra and The Princeton Review to allow colleges and universities in the U.S. and Canada to use the STARS Reporting Tool to share their sustainability data for potential inclusion in Sierra's Cool Schools ranking and The Princeton Review's Guide to Green Colleges. The submission deadline for inclusion in both rankings, as well as AASHE’s annual Sustainable Campus Index, is March 6.

A special issue of Sustainability aims to explore and develop the common priorities of the design and nature of undergraduate and graduate programs in sustainability-related areas.
