Ethics in Environmental & Sustainability Programs Survey
The Aldo Leopold Foundation is conducting a survey of faculty and administrators in sustainability and environmental programs to accomplish to learn more about how ethics are currently included in curricula, and to identify the types of resources that might assist faculty with incorporating ethics content, including the work and concepts of conservationist and author Aldo Leopold.

UN Academic Impact Millennium Fellowships
The Millennium Fellows program is for students leaders who are advancing the U.N. goals on their campus and in their community. Presented by the United National Academic Impact and the Millennium Campus Network, the Millennium Fellowship is a semester-long leadership development program that provides training, networking and recognition in order to take social impact to the next level. The general application deadline to apply for the program is May 31.
NAAEE Outstanding Achievement in Environmental Education Awards
Presented by the North American Association for Environmental Education (NAAEE) and bestowed on NAAEE members, the Outstanding Achievement in Environmental Education Awards will highlight outstanding achievements through its seven award categories. The deadline to submit is August 3.
Call for Contributions: Encyclopedia of Sustainability in Higher Education
The Encyclopedia of Sustainability in Higher Education will be produced as a tool to support universities across the world to implement sustainable development in higher education in the following areas: policy-making, visioning, structures, management and strategies; teaching, learning and competencies; research and transformation; campus greening, design, operations and carbon impacts; students and stakeholders´ initiatives and involvement. Published by Springer as part of its World Sustainability Series, the peer-reviewed resource will document 500 expressions related to sustainable development in higher education.
AASHE 2018 Workshop: Facilitation for Organizational Change
This full-day pre-conference workshop is designed to provide and explain the tools, techniques and skill sets needed to be a strong group meeting facilitator to effectively accomplish goals and bring about organizational change. Presented by Dallase Scott and Lisa Bjerke of GreenerU, this workshop will cover behavior theory as it pertains to meetings, the role of a facilitator, types of meetings, basic facilitation tools and techniques, difficult conversations and personalities, adaptive facilitation, nonverbal communication, methods of building group consensus, and a holistic process approach to facilitation.

This workshop will advance the research agenda described in the National Science Foundation’s “Sustainable Urban Systems: Articulating a Long-Term Convergence Research Agenda”. Presented by Stephen Boss and Tahar Messadi of the University of Arkansas, this full-day pre-conference workshop will dive into trends in urbanization and opportunities to redesign urban systems for improved sustainability.
Net Positive Symposium for Higher Education
In partnership with AASHE, the International Living Future Institute will host the Net Positive Symposium for Higher Education at Hampshire College from June 25-26. The event will highlight Hampshire College, Smith College and Williams College as adopters of the Living Building Challenge and the Living Community Challenge. Attendees will explore case studies from these campuses to understand the design, development and implementation of these living laboratories. This symposium will inspire, instruct and engage in order to provide attendees with the tools, information, partnerships and lessons to turn values into practice and ideas into action at their own institutions and in their own communities.
2018 State of Sustainability Survey
Sightlines and the University of New Hampshire Sustainability Institute are conducting a survey that will inform the 2018 State of Sustainability report. The survey asks about institutional operational goals, processes and outcomes. Sightlines has pledged to donate $5 to AASHE for every survey completed.
AASHE 2018 Workshop: Developing and Utilizing a Social Justice Lens in Order to Achieve Global Goals for Sustainability
Doing sustainability work through a social justice lens supports the urgent need for national and global collaboration with respect to climate, environmental and sustainability issues and greatly improves the likelihood of the development of deeply rooted and long-term climate, environmental and sustainability solutions. Presented by Heather Hackman of the Hackman Consulting Group, this full-day pre-conference workshop is designed to take campus sustainability work to a deeper level, via the use of a critical social justice lens, so as to improve its efficacy, deepen its reach and power, and ultimately align it more closely with 21st century climate realities.
Academic Bicycle Challenge
The Academic Bicycle Challenge is for college and university staff, faculty and students to track their cycled miles for a chance to appear on one of eight different leaderboard types. There are two competition cycles from which to choose: June and September. Each cycle will reveal a global comparison of cycling activities between universities, academic disciplines, self-generated teams and individuals.

Solution Search: Behavior Change for Climate Change
Solution Search is a contest to find successful strategies for helping consumers reduce their carbon footprint through behavior change. Using the power of emotional appeals, social incentives and choice architecture, solutions should apply behavior change insights to inspire and enable people to change the way they consume. Two winners will receive $25,000 to further the solution and organization’s goals. Applications are due Aug. 7.

US Youth Delegation for UN Climate Talks
SustainUS invites students to apply to be part of the U.S. youth delegation at the 2018 climate talks, COP 24, taking place from Dec. 3-14, 2018, in Poland. To apply for this delegation, applicants participate in the SustainUS Climate Justice Challenge. The challenge asks for applicants to publicly share their work and stories of resilience with their communities, networks and the wider movement.

Hosted by Wilfrid Laurier University in Waterloo, Ontario, this workshop will introduce participants to a leadership development program designed to enable practitioners to generate deep organizational change and establish sustainability as a strategic priority. The workshop is designed to highlight and make sense of the very broad set of topics and disciplines that are relevant for leading a transformational sustainability program. National Wildlife Federation Campus Pollinator Pledge
The National Wildlife Federation is asking college and university students, faculty, and staff to take action on their campus to provide healthy habitat for pollinators. By taking the Campus Pollinator Pledge, campuses are committing to protect pollinators by providing healthy habitat through creation, restoration and protection efforts. Campuses that take the pledge are also committing to engage and educate their campus community.
Call for Contributions: Competencies in Education for Sustainable Development
This special issue of Sustainability will focus on education for sustainable development (ESD) competencies. Suggested topics include the integration of ESD competencies in policies, strategies and programs, innovative pedagogical approaches to ESD competencies, processes and tools to assess ESD competencies, and professional development in ESD. The deadline for manuscript submission is Nov. 30.
Call for Applications: Future Organic Farmer Education Grant
The California Certified Organic Farmers (CCOF) Foundation is now accepting applications for educational grant funding from students currently enrolled in the U.S. who are pursuing a career in organic agricultural production. Applications must be submitted by May 15.
Campus Sustainability Leadership Professional Certificate
The University of Vermont's Continuing and Distance Education program is offering a five-day on-campus Campus Sustainability Leadership course from June 18-22 focusing on change through transformative and financially sustainable initiatives to help campuses become sustainability models. Participants will have the opportunity to expand their professional network and learn from leaders in the field.

2018 Green Sports Alliance Summit Poster Session
Green Sports Alliance is accepting poster submissions as part of its 2018 Green Sports Alliance Summit in Atlanta, June 26-27. A poster session will be offered exclusively for universities, colleges and other academic institutions focusing on sustainability in athletics and/or recreation. The poster sessions will run throughout the summit with dedicated time in the conference program for presenting posters. The deadline to submit is April 6.
EPA Pollution Prevention Grant
The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency invites colleges and universities to apply for an EPA Pollution Prevention grant. The grant aims to provide technical assistance about source reduction techniques and to identify, develop, document and share pollution prevention best management practices and innovations. The deadline to apply is April 26.
Focus Climate Gap Year
Focus is a hands-on leadership program for young people interested in immersing themselves in climate impacts and solutions, and launching their own academic, personal and professional paths toward action. Participants may be eligible for up to 18 credits each semester through Portland State University.
The Green Program
The Green Program is an experiential education and workforce development program for young leaders in sustainable development. The organization has introduced a model for education abroad that provides purposeful, hands-on industry exposure. As commitment partners to the United Nations 17 Sustainable Development Goals, the accredited program aims to expose students to sustainability challenges and initiatives around the world.
Sunrise Semester 2018
The Sunrise Movement is recruiting at least 100 young people to serve for a six-month stint as full-time volunteer organizers from June through the election in November. After a one-week bootcamp at the beginning of summer 2018, organizers will fan out to one of five politically significant states to investigate the impact of big oil on elections, challenge political candidates to refuse donations from fossil fuel executives, and endorse and campaign for specific candidates at the local, state and federal levels.
