Keep It Cool is a national campaign mobilizing students to help retailers save energy. Students from campuses around the country can participate by identifying retailers that keep their front doors open. Campaign organizers will educate retailers who allow energy to escape through their open doors and will recognize shops that “Keep It Cool” with closed doors.

Sustainability Across the Curriculum UMACS Faculty Workshop

This Upper Mid-West Association for Campus Sustainability (UMACS) pre-conference workshop will give participants tools to design a new sustainability-focused course, and/or redesign an existing course, course unit or assignment. The workshop will introduce key sustainability concepts, pedagogical approaches (e.g., integrating service learning & “campus as a living laboratory” projects), and strategies for transforming departmental or campus curriculum. Participants will be paired with discipline-specific mentors to support course and curriculum development both during and after the event. The deadline to register is Sept. 15.

Turning the Page on Campus Paper Use

AASHE invites applications from institutions to join a cohort of 10 to 12 AASHE members that will receive in-depth training, guidance and tools to implement a behavior-based paper saving program on their campus. Representatives of these institutions will participate in a day-long, in-person training at the 2017 AASHE Conference and Expo. Participants will receive ongoing support over the course of the upcoming academic year to refine, implement and evaluate their paper saving campaigns. Applications are due by August 18.

SustainUS Fall 2017 World Bank Delegation Call for Applications

SustainUS invites applications to be part of a delegation of 15-20 young people that will attend the World Bank annual meetings from Oct. 9-15, 2017, in Washington, D.C. In partnership with civil society organizations, the SustainUS delegation aims to influence the World Bank Group to change its policies on climate change and equitable distribution of development finance. Climate Change Theatre Action 2017

Climate Change Theatre Action, a collaboration between York University and partners, invites people to host readings or short plays about climate change in support of the 2017 United Nations COP23 meeting. Those that sign up will present an event between Oct. 1 and Nov. 18, 2017, that addresses an aspect of climate change. AASHE Mentorship Program: Call for Applications

In response to member requests for increased knowledge exchange between campus sustainability practitioners, AASHE is inviting applications into its new Mentorship Program until Aug. 4. This program connects sustainability staff and faculty with peers to share knowledge, collaborate on projects and advance the field of higher education sustainability in general. Participants can expect a semi-structured process to facilitate ongoing collaboration between mentors and mentees, who will be matched based on desired goals, relevant experience and overall expertise. Global Climate Change Week 2017

Global Climate Change Week (GCCW), scheduled for Oct. 9-15, aims to encourage academic communities in all disciplines and countries to engage with each other, their communities and policy makers on climate change action and solutions. GCCW provides an open-ended framework for voluntary activities aimed at raising awareness, inspiring behavior change and driving political transformation in relation to climate policy.

Sustainability Across the Curriculum: Online Workshop from Moraine Valley CC

This online event, organized by Moraine Valley Community College in partnership with AASHE, is designed for higher education instructors wishing to infuse issues of sustainability (ecological stability, social equity and economic vitality) into their curriculum regardless of the discipline. Sustainability issues cross all disciplines, thus the intent of this course is to identify those areas of intersection. Solutions to real-world sustainability problems will be explored. Three graduate credits are available to participants through Aurora University. Participants must have earned a bachelor's degree in order to receive graduate credits. Teaching Business and Human Rights Survey

This survey aims to map the current state of university instruction on the subject of business and human rights issues and related corporate responsibility topics with an explicit human rights dimension. It will do so by identifying where (country, institution, discipline) and in what fashion business and human rights has been integrated into university curricula and academic activities. This online survey is a joint effort of the Principles for Responsible Management Education Working Group on Business and Human Rights, and the Teaching Business and Human Rights Forum. Sustainability and Indigenous Knowledge Curriculum Workshop

Global Survey on Poverty and the Sustainable Development Goals

The aim of this survey is to better understand the challenges and solutions business and management educators around the world face as they seek to include the issue of poverty and inequality into business school curricula, modules, programs and courses. As such, it aims to understand progress made since a 2012 survey on responsible management, and explore the topic of responsible management education in light of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Higher Education Carbon Pricing Endorsement Initiative

Leaders of higher education institutions are invited to endorse a letter calling on elected representatives to put a price on carbon. Putting a price on carbon can act as a catalyst to greenhouse gas emissions reductions and a transition to a clean energy economy. To date, over 30 college and university presidents have signed on. On Wednesday, May 17, organizers of the initiative are hosting a Higher Education Carbon Pricing Endorsement Initiative conference call from 1-2:00 p.m. Eastern for anyone interested in learning more about carbon pricing, the initiative and how to get presidents onboard.

The 8th annual Climate Leadership Awards invite applications from signatory campuses of the Presidents’ Climate Leadership Commitments. These awards recognize innovative and advanced leadership in sustainability, climate mitigation and resilience.
