AASHE's Sustainability Across the Curriculum Leadership Workshop
Through an intensive two days of presentations, exercises, discussions, reflection, and planning, participants will become familiar with the philosophy of change in higher education developed through the Ponderosa Project at Northern Arizona University and adapted at Emory in Piedmont Project. Readings and organizational materials are provided. Applications must be submitted by Feb. 1.
Call for Proposals: Sustainable Earth 2018
Sustainable Earth 2018 is an annual conference connecting research with action to work towards solutions to sustainability challenges. It is an informal and interactive event, aimed at a global audience to increase collaborations between organizations and researchers. Anyone is invited to submit proposals for sessions or posters. Sunrise Semester Fellowship
Sunrise Semester is a fellowship program for young people (18-35) who care about environmental issues or politics. Fellows will work together to raise awareness of climate change and make it a decisive issue in the 2018 midterm election. The fellowship begins on June 1 and ends on Nov. 18, 2018. The deadline to apply is Jan. 5.

Integrating Social Responsibility and Sustainability at Universities Survey

2018 AASHE Conference & Expo: Call for Proposals
Submissions are being accepted for the 2018 AASHE Conference & Expo in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, on Oct. 2-5, 2018. With the theme “Global Goals: Rising to the Challenge”, the conference provides a platform to examine the critical role of higher education in achieving the U.N. Sustainable Development Goals, which are ambitious global targets to end poverty, protect the planet and ensure prosperity for all by 2030. All accepted presenters receive a discount applicable to full conference registration. The submission period closes Feb. 16.

Calls for Student Posters: Intermountain Sustainability Summit
Intermountain Sustainability Summit organizers invite students to submit posters for the ninth annual conference happening March 1-2, at Weber State University in Ogden, Utah. Posters related to sustainability under the categories of graduate/undergraduate research, green design, education and community engagement, creative arts and humanities, and/or sustainability in action are due Feb. 5. Students whose posters are selected will receive complimentary admission and are entered to win prizes.
Photovoltaic Development for Institutions Online Course
The Midwest Renewable Energy Association is offering Second Nature implementation liaisons and other campus contacts in the Climate Leadership Network the opportunity to apply for an eight-week online course that guides campuses through the creation and implementation of solar photovoltaic plans. A pilot of the course is free to higher education institutions for the January 2018 cohort. Applications are due by Dec. 15.
Request for Information: Energy Dept Collegiate Wind Competition
The National Renewable Energy Laboratory (NREL) requests feedback about the Collegiate Wind Competition. The objective of the inquiry is to ensure that the event is effectively meeting its objectives of increasing student interest in wind energy, expanding wind-focused university programs, and meeting industry workforce needs. ISCN 2018: Call for Abstracts
Abstracts that include topics related to any aspect of sustainability and higher education institutions are being accepted to the 2018 International Sustainable Campus Conference, themed Sustainable Development: Acting With Purpose. The 2018 International Sustainable Campus Conference will be held at the KTH Royal Institute of Technology, June 11-13, 2018, in Stockholm, Sweden. Abstracts are due by Dec. 15.
International Study on Sustainable Procurement at Universities
The Inter-University Sustainable Development Research Program and World Sustainable Development Research and Transfer Center invite responses on an international study on sustainable procurement among universities. The study attempts to understand the extent to which sustainable procurement is currently being considered or practiced by universities around the world.

The Educators' Challenge
The Educators' Challenge aims to encourage the development of innovative approaches that engage students and broader audiences in discussions on better frameworks for continued ideation and discussion on how we can better address the greatest challenges of our time. The Higher Education Institutions and Responsible Research and Innovation project invites abstracts representing practices, projects, programs and initiatives that demonstrate the application of responsible research and innovation in higher education, specifically those that put a spotlight on activities designed to integrate more democratic governance in research and innovation with an emphasis on positive societal impacts. AASHE Member Discount: $100 Off Sustainability Certification Through ISSP
The International Society of Sustainability Professionals (ISSP) offers students, faculty and staff from AASHE-member schools a $100 discount on the ISSP Sustainability Associate (ISSP-SA) credential exam. The program is designed to recognize the knowledge, skills and abilities of those in the sustainability field, including students with knowledge of core sustainability concepts.
College & University Green Power Challenge
Throughout the 2017-18 academic year, the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency's Green Power Partnership will track and rank U.S. collegiate athletic conferences based on combined green power usage. The program includes any collegiate athletic conference in the U.S. with at least two U.S. EPA Green Power Partners and an aggregate green power purchase of at least 10 million kilowatt-hours.

World Sustainability Award & Emerging Sustainability Leader Award
Both awards encourage new initiatives and developments in sustainability with the goal of recognizing those who have made an outstanding academic or societal contribution to sustainability. The World Sustainability Award will be granted to individual researchers or research teams, while the Emerging Sustainability Leader Award will be granted to an individual researcher.
MAXQDA Research Grants
MAXQDA, a software solution that facilitates and supports qualitative, quantitative and mixed methods research projects, is offering students a $1,200 grant, created to give financial support and methodological training to student researchers whose fieldwork aims to study, bring awareness or contribute to empowerment initiatives in the Global South. Any college or university that has a direct or indirect contract or a direct agreement to sell PepsiCo products can apply for up to $10,000 in funding for sustainability projects. Proposals will be judged based on the following criteria: environmental impact; social impact; desirability, feasibility and longevity; ingenuity; and cost effectiveness. Proposals will be accepted through Dec. 19.

AASHE STARS and Organizational Learning Survey
AASHE STARS liaisons and other STARS users are invited to participate in a new study by Smith College on STARS and organizational learning. The aim of the study is to assess the impacts of STARS across the U.S. and Canada. Survey participants will answer questions about institutional characteristics and history of campus sustainability on their campus, learning at their institution in general, and campus sustainability and STARS on their campus. Net Impact Food Solutions Challenge
The Food Solutions Challenge by Net Impact invites students to host an event to raise awareness and generate solutions about food loss, meaning food that never makes it to the consumer. Net Impact will provide students with resources to hold the event. Teams will submit solutions to Net Impact for a chance to travel to a paid capstone event to sharpen design thinking skills and refine their solutions. The top team will win $5,000. Deadline to apply is Jan. 15.
Call for Abstracts: Symposium on Universities and the Sustainable Development Goals
Interested parties may submit a paper for the 2018 Symposium on Universities and the Sustainable Development Goals, April 11, 2018, hosted by Manchester Metropolitan University (U.K.). The event will focus on integrating, promoting and catalyzing higher education institutions in the global efforts to implement the Sustainable Development Goals.
